VEERAYATAN
Upadhyaya Shri Amar Muniji Maharaj conceptually thought of Veerayatan in 1962 and presented the concept to monks, scholars, and intellectuals in 1972, on the 2500th Nirvana Centenary of Lord Mahavir. Inspired by his vision, Acharya Shri Chandanaji Majaraj nurtured this seed into what is now considered one of India’s leading development organizations. Established in 1973, Veerayatan is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that strives to uplift and empower humanity through the three jewels of humanitarianism, education and inner development.
Veerayatan is a well known socio-religious institution in Bihar which perpetuates the concepts of spirituality, culture and education. The site is rich in its historical heritage, where the undercurrents of Jainism, Buddhism and Vedic religion meet. Acharya Shri Chandanaji Maharaj followed up with the concept to build Veerayatan in the state of Bihar, India which is the very place where Lord Mahavir perpetuated the path of ahimsa (non-violence), love and compassion to the world. The Veerayatan Campus is situated at the base of the Vaibhavgiri Hills where Lord Mahavir had studied and meditated in caves.
Veerayatan is run by a team of dynamic and dedicated Sadhvis with the support of trustees, committee members, professional staff and committed volunteers. The services are available to all without any regard to caste, creed, race, religion or socio-economic status. Since its inception, Veerayatan created an indelible impact in extending extraordinary contributions towards the alleviation of human suffering.
With its world renowned eye hospital (Netra-Jyoti Seva Mandiram) in Bihar, India, administered by Sadhviji Chetnaji Maharaj, Veerayatan provides most of its services free of charge or at a very small charge. Veerayatan has established and is operating elementary to higher secondary schools, colleges to pursue advanced education leading to undergraduate and graduate degrees, and vocational training centers, all administered by Sadhviji Sampragyaji Maharaj. Veerayatan operates an inner development center near Pune, Maharashtra, India, and conducts personal development courses and workshops in the United States of America, Canada, U.K. – England, Africa – Kenya, Singapore, Australia, and Dubai. These workshops are offered to any one without regard to caste, creed, race, religion or socioeconomic status.
Veerayatan International is recognized as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization by the International Revenue Service in the U.S.A.
